Acceptable Use Policy

Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy governs customer conduct on Cambridge Fibre Networks services. It is designed to protect our customers and the wider internet community from inappropriate use of our services. By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy.

Prohibited Activities

Illegal and Harmful Use

The following are strictly prohibited: impersonation or forgery of network headers or identity information; privacy violations and unauthorised access to computer systems or data; threats of bodily harm or property destruction; harassment or threatening activity; any illegal use, including distribution of material that promotes hate, violence, or exploitation; unauthorised reselling of services; and copyright infringement.

Network Integrity

Any activities that adversely affect other users’ ability to use our services or the internet are prohibited. This includes denial-of-service attacks, network interference, and any activity that degrades service quality. Customers are responsible for maintaining secure networks and preventing misuse by third parties.

Email and Communications

Unsolicited commercial email and bulk spam are strictly prohibited. Any legitimate bulk email communications require double opt-in confirmation from recipients. Recipients must have a clear and easy way to unsubscribe. Users must maintain properly configured mail servers — open relay configurations are not permitted. Violation of email standards may result in immediate account termination without notice.

Bandwidth and Web Hosting

Bandwidth Usage

Excessive utilisation that exceeds your account specifications is prohibited. We reserve the right to manage network traffic to ensure fair usage for all customers.

Web Hosting

Hosting of illegal material is prohibited. We cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities. Software or tools designed to facilitate violations of this or other service providers’ acceptable use policies must not be distributed via our network.

Reporting Violations

Report violations to abuse@cambridgefibre.uk. When reporting, please include: the IP address of the violator, the date and time with timezone of the incident, and any evidence of the violation. We may take enforcement actions including issuing warnings, suspending posting privileges or accounts, terminating accounts, or invoicing for administrative costs incurred.
